Another wardrobe staple this fall will be a versatile pencil skirt. Depending on the styling a well fitting pencil skirt can take you from day to night, office to weekend. Butterick 5566 is my choice of pattern. It's a great basic, offering 3 fun variations.
In addition to this pattern I'm still on the lookout for a more high waisted pencil skirt.
Any pattern suggestions? What is your TNT pencil skirt pattern?
I would love to hear!
Personally I don't wear pencil skirts, but your comment made me think of all these fab ones I saw recently on the errant pear blog http://errantpear.blogspot.co.uk/
ReplyDeleteThanks for your suggestion. A new blog to explore!
DeleteWow, that's a very impressive collection! I will make sure to check back on your pins. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI have little need in my everyday wardrobe for a pencil skirt. I've made the by hand charlotte twice but I can't say it's perfect for me. I remember reading somewhere a perfect pencil skirt has princess seams, so your Butterick pattern may be just the find! I've made the colette beignet a couple of times and love it - I know it's not a pencil skirt but is very fitted at the top and that is often the part that is hardest to fit! Good luck with your skirt making!
ReplyDeleteI also considered the Charlotte skirt, but felt like this pattern will give me more fitting options. I'm going to check your blog for the skirts you made. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI drafted a pattern using the Danckaert method. Really easy and you can easily create a pencil skirt with it that fits like a glove.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I might try that next. For now I like to have the pattern instructions as a backup.
DeleteI live in the Pamela's Patterns Pencil Skirt. I am pretty sure there is a high waisted version. I peg the skirt a little more than the pattern calls for but otherwise..
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you choose.
This is the first time I hear about Pamela's patterns. I'm going to take a look. Thanks for your suggestion!
